Summary
This study evaluates the iSWAB-ID collection device as a method for improving recovery of cells and DNA from forensic swabs. It examines collection from dried stains, recovery from different swab conditions, cell lysis, DNA stabilization and downstream PCR/STR performance. The reported results support the device as a simple and efficient approach with potential for high DNA recovery.
